....aaand we're down again. So, I've contacted my hosts and we're now working under two theories:

Theory 1: A crazed hacker has written a bot that loads various scripts on the site to the point where it crashes the server.

Theory 2: I simply have an obscene amount of traffic. No hackers involved, simply this blog is so popular that all the readers, trying to access the site at the same time, takes the server down.

There's nothing in the error logs that specifically support (or rule out) Theory 1, but I've never had any suggestion that there are over 4,000 unique visitors reading this site at any time, let alone all yesterday morning. Certainly, it seems like the server is just getting overwhelmed trying to support this site.

My hosts and I are working on a few new possible options for fixing the problem. Hopefully we will be back up and running in a few days.
