I’ve been working on a new theme for the blog for the last couple of days, and it’s now functional enough to be used instead of the other theme (although some formatting remains to be done).
If you are having problems viewing this new theme, please leave me a comment describing the problem. Please include your browser and your screen resolution. A screen capture will also help me resolve the problem.

I really hated the old one but was so depressed over losing all my writing during the reboot, it took a lot to make me want to replace it with one that wasn’t a quick hack of the default.

I just noticed that, now that you pointed it out. How did you lose all that old writing??? Man, there was some good stuff way back when.
I think your new theme is definitely the best. It’s simple, it showcases your writing and your comments, and it’s straight forward.
A combination of a corrupted WP theme, commet spam, and my own stupidity. Some sort of spambot initiated an endless PHP/MySQL loop that corrupted my theme about a year ago. The script ran over and over again, and I could’t interrupt it to fix the problem. The only solution was to drop the MYSQL table, which deletes the entire blog’s contents.
And I had lost all my old backups a year before that when my desktop computer fritzed, and I hadn’t made a more recent backup because I’m stupid.
So, I lost everything.

Thanks. I was really going for all those things. I’ve tended to go for more complicated and graphically heavy layouts in the past, but I was feeling like the blog needed something a little bit more “grown up” and clean. This one is incredibly minimalist by my standards, but I think it’s much better suited for where I am in my blogging and in my life.

That was because of the theme? Wow.
I’m super paranoid about this stuff. I know lots of people who do transfers, changes, etc. and lose everything. That’s years of work!
Oh well. I’m really bad about backing up too. I need to be more diligent about it.
