I apologize for how I worded my first comment. I wasn’t saying that Jen was being reactive, I was trying to make a point of how some would react to her blog entry in “Post racial American” Their are those who would dismiss her claims and say she is just being too sensitive. The problem is the absence of the type of healthy dialog needed to honestly deal with the history of racism and white supremacy in American culture. Halloween is no excuse to keep these traditions alive.

I never understood the appeal of Halloween. Is it that you can run around in a costume without being considered a freak, or the limited amount of exceptionable vandalism.

A-merry-ca is a nation of fools who instead of being proactive tend to reactive, with racism being a primary examples. I really don’t think there’s any hope for this country.

Hear, hear. “Post-racial America” is a joke. I can’t tell you how many of those imaginary scenarios I’ve run through in my head… They usually end with some sort of bodily harm coming to the offender. Call me jaded, but none of those fantasies end with the other party saying, “Oh, wow. I’ve been a total jackass. I’m so sorry!”
